OVER THERE

Over there a butterfly
Truly blue
Fluttering here
Fluttering there
Then he’s gone.

Over there on a rock
A fly
Starving
Quiet
Innocent
Comes the rain
Bzzz.

Over there a flame
High up
Stretching
Fire on a roof
Where is it?
Whose is it?

Over there a leg
Sticking out
Around the corner
Let’s go see
Whose it is.

Over there on the hill
A tree
The sun
The sky
And yourself.

Over there a bald
The sun
Hitting it
What a glare.

Over there a hat
Wind
Carries it
A gentleman
Chases it
Doesn’t catch it.

Over there a fly
Swimming
In the mug
The tea
Is not drunk
Rescue it.

Over there a tiger spider
Giant raisin
In the sun
On the gutter
Hanging
Swaying
Webbing.

Over there a kid
Kicking his foot
Back and forth
Back and forth
A lady steps out of
The bakery
The kid runs up
Begging for sweets
From her sack.

Over there a drunken woman
Ancient Romans
Chasing her
So she thinks
She is
Dreaming.

Over there a child
Crying
Sobbing
The mother
Pressing
Her face
To her coat.

Over there an old man
Sits
Perturbed
Looking
Through the air
Without looking
The devil
Has him.

Over there a clock
Ticking
Just ticking.

Over there a lady
Off the wall
What’s she shouting
Totally confused
She lost
Her mind.

Over there a parking lot
Cars sliding
Into spaces
Backing out
Rolling along
Seagulls flying
Standing on
Lamp posts.

Over there a snowflake
Drifting
Dancing
To the ground.
Suddenly
After awhile
The world turns
White.

Over there a bearded man
driving along
with his chair.

Over there a cat
licking itself
up and down
the head
and stops
eyes fixed
without looking.

Over there a child
playing
the toy
falls from his hands
the child
bursts into tears.

Over there a flame
High up
Stretching
Fire on a roof
Whose is it?

Over there a girl
The boy
Gazes
She walks
Out of sight
He
Sighs.

Over there a star
Gleaming
In the dark
Heavens
Mighty
Jupiter

Over there a baby
Loving
The world
Mary’s
SON

Over there
People
More people
And more people
Where
Did they
Come from

Over there sitting
People
Applauding

Over there a salesman
arguing
with a man
What’s his
beef

Over there
The roof’s
On fire
Whose
Not mine
What
A relief
