As per Wikipedia
Shavout or Shovuos in Ashkenazi or Shavu ‘oth in Classical and Mizrahi Hebrew, known as the Feast of Weeks in English and as Pentecost in Ancient Greek, is a Jewish Holiday that occurs on the sixth day of the Hebrew month Sivan (late May or early June).
Shavout commemorates the anniversary of the day G-d gave the Torah to the entire HEBREW nation assembled at Mount Sinai. These slowly spread amongst the entire Israelite and Jewish nations.
As per my sixteen years of Catholic Education
In the Roman Catholic faith, Pentecost, which also occurs in late May or early June, commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and friends of Jesus. This significant day marks the time the Son of the Most Supreme enlightened Jesus’s followers. From that day forward the apostle’s and disciples taught Faith the way Jesus taught.
Jesus incorporated the 10 commandments into his teachings. The Ten Commandments are the Points of Order that the Almighty requested of us to bring order to his universe. We inherit a divine gift which is a natural part of our beginnings. It is called Free Will. The Almighty has Free Will; we have Free Will. G-d did not give us free will; we originated with it, so did almighty G-d. We are not robots or pre-programmed creatures doing what some powerful First Creature forces us to do. No! We are equal intelligence to Almighty G-d and therefore have the divine power of choosing. The Supreme, through experience and enlightenment, drew up some points for us to follow, that would facilitate putting perfect order in his universe.
1.) I am the first one in this universe and its creator, therefore grant me all due respect.
2.) Refrain from swearing and profanity.
3.)Take one day a week off from work and pleasure and commune with me.
4.) Honor your parents. Do them no harm.
5.) Do not kill, murder, or maim any living creature. We are not born carnivores and other creatures were not created to be carnivores.
6.) Do not take that which does not belong to you. Ask for it. If it is available to the public, at no cost, then it is not stealing. Do not fly things over to yourself, just because you fancy them.
7.) Do not lie. Speak the truth. There are ways of speaking the truth without having to lie. Hone your vocabulary skills, so you don’t have to lie.
8.) No wedded person is to sin(have sex) with some one else, other than your spouse. This is called adultery.
9.) Do not hanker after someone else’s spouse. If you destroy some one else’s marriage, you are gonna get it!
10.) Don’t go after what other people own, they may have worked very hard for it and for all you know, may be the only thing they have.
